Warm Dimmable LEDs: The Complete Buyer's Guide
The right bulb makes a cheap fixture look expensive. The wrong bulb makes an expensive fixture look cheap. Here is how to tell the difference.

We test dozens of LED bulbs every year. The bad ones flicker, shift colour as they dim, and burn out in 18 months. The good ones disappear into the room.
What to look for
Three specs matter: Kelvin (we recommend 2700K for living spaces), CRI (Colour Rendering Index, 90+ for accurate colour), and dimmer compatibility (look for an explicit list of compatible dimmers).
- CRI 90+ — anything below 80 makes food and skin look grey
- R9 50+ — a separate score for reds, ignored by most bulb makers
- Dimmable to 5 percent — many bulbs claim "dimmable" but only go to 30

For pendants: a 6W E26 with 2700K and 90+ CRI. For sconces: a 4W candelabra with the same specs. For floor lamps: a 9W A19, dimmable to 5 percent.
